My father died back in 1977 from prostate cancer. Unfortunately, treatment was limited and often fatal back then. I now have a mother who is dying from ovarian cancer. Being a caregiver often means you don’t take care of yourself while caring from someone who is fatally ill.

I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes recently. I had not been taking care of myself, only my mom. I also have permanent damage because of not taking care of myself. Now I’m taking care of myself better and have my sugar under control. Thank you for continuing Dan’s legacy in all of the forms you are doing. Also, your comments to the caregivers of someone with any kind of fatal disease will be a wake-up call for alot of people to go get their health checkups no matter what.

Diabetes, if not the inherited type, can be triggered by extreme stress, something I did not know when I went to the doctor.
